In Hirschfeld's Fig. 9/10 File, the artist has drawn several variations on a theme: a woman with her hair up in a bun, wearing a headscarf. In each version, the woman's facial expression and body language is different, conveying a range of emotions from playful to pensive.
Hirschfeld was known for his ability to capture the essence of a person or character in just a few strokes of his pen, and these drawings are a perfect example of that talent. Though they are all quite simple, they convey a great deal of personality and emotion.
It's fascinating to see how Hirschfeld varied the same basic figure over and over again, creating new and interesting characters each time. These drawings are a wonderful demonstration of his skill as an artist and his understanding of human psychology.
