Intrigued, Hirschfeld began experimenting with different combinations of materials and found that he could produce a range of colors by varying the proportions of the elements in his electrode. He eventually succeeded in creating a device that could produce a continuous spectrum of colors, which he dubbed the "Hirschfeld Fig. 3/7 File."
Today, the Hirschfeld Fig. 3/7 File is recognized as one of the most important achievements in early color photography. Hirschfeld's discovery paved the way for future advances in color film and photography, and his work continues to inspire artists and scientists alike.
