CASTROVIEJO ANGLED 18,0cm Castroviejo angled calipers are a type of surgical instrument used to measure the angles of bones and other hard tissues. They are named after their inventor, Spanish surgeon Antonio Castroviejo (1858-1937). Angled calipers are used in a variety of surgical procedures, including Orthopedic surgery, to determine the angle of a bone or joint in order to plan for treatment. For example, in hip replacement surgery, accurate measurement of the angle between the femur and pelvis is essential for proper implant placement. Castroviejo angled calipers are made from stainless steel and are available in a variety of sizes. The most common size is 18 centimeters (cm), but they can range from 14 cm to 22 cm. To use, the tips of the caliper are placed on either side of the bone or joint being measured. The arms of the caliper are then brought together until they touch. The angle between the two arms is then read from the scale on the body of the caliper. Angled calipers are a simple yet essential tool for many orthopedic surgeons and should be included in any basic surgical instrument set.
